In the world we live in today, technology provides thousands of outlets for a person looking to better their fitness and overall health. Whether it be through iPhone and BlackBerry applications, heart rate monitors with BMI calculators or the thousands of Web sites dedication to the body - learning about health has never been so accessible to the everyday consumer.

Here are some of the best blogs documenting health and fitness issues. Ranging from inspiring stories of dramatic weight loss to blogs that cover good and bad foods for your specific body type and fitness levels, there is an area of interest for everyone.

crankyfitness.com

Started in 2007, the blog has a staff of writers that cover a wide variety of topics, ranging from health and fitness to disease prevention and aging and personal development.

Some of the most recent posts highlight the dangers of consuming too much salt and a laughable commentary about music choices for your workout.

Looking for a good laugh? This blog has a humorous vibe and is good for a light read when you're cruising the Internet.

Tosca Reno is one of my ultimate fitness icons. She went from a "frumpy, fat, 40-something housewife," according to her Web site, to a bestselling author, columnist and author all by simply changing her diet and fitness routine and documenting her journey along the way. She's the author of The Clean Eat Diet and definitely has a rockin' bod.

So what is the most useful advice on her blog right now? Arguably her piece on protecting yourself from the H1N1 virus. Her main tips include attempting to "Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (Listerine is fine if you don't like salt). H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/nasal cavity to proliferate (grow) and show characteristic symptoms. Simple gargling prevents proliferation. Gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected one."

This Web site is run by Katrina Hodgson and Karena Dawn, two young fitness pros. They cover a lot of the general fitness and health topics like good salad ideas, effects of alcohol on appetite and even post videos depicting cooking and nutrition demonstrations. It's pretty basic information but it's totally good stuff.

Besides the fact that these two women are ridiculously good looking, they both are certified personal trainers and competitors in fitness competitions around the country. Interesting fact? Dawn ran her first marathon at the age of 12.

Corinne is a mother who has lost more than 110 pounds and now runs her own personal training business and maintains this blog and her main Web site, Phit-N-Phat.com. The best part of this blog is her step-by-step instructions on a variety of different workout routines that are both easy to follow and user friendly.

On her Web site, this former fast-food junkee advises readers, "you can't wait for things to change and be perfect. You have to adjust to your lifestyle." With an outlook like that, this "fat girl" to "phat girl" gives a ton of other advice to both better your body and your overall lifestyle.
