When news leaked last spring that Jamie Lynn Spears was pregnant, the media had an absolute field day.
Words like "skank," "slut" and "white trash" seemingly followed the 17-year-old wherever she went. It got so bad that, at one point, a Google search of "dirty whore" yielded "Did you mean Jamie Lynn Spears?"
Now, four months removed from having a beautiful baby girl, Maddie Briann, rumors are surfacing that Spears is indeed pregnant again.
Naturally, she has denied it, but I don't care what Spears says - if that report got through the sticklers for accuracy at the National Enquirer, it must be true.
Before everyone starts calling her a "stupid redneck" and "horny schoolgirl," let's all take a step back and really analyze this situation.
Spears is not deserving of any of those demeaning titles. Clearly, Spears and her fiancé, Casey Aldridge, are in love. It's a beautiful thing, really. Who would have thought Spears could find true love? Look at her sister's track record. First, Britney dated Justin Timberlake for his fame. Then, she married Kevin Federline for his dance moves and his body. And then, she divorced him and nearly killed her infant son. It's pretty safe to assume that the only person Britney has been in love with is herself.
Jamie, on the other hand, is the good egg. Somehow, she was unaffected by all of her sister's wild antics. She did what Britney could never do: A. She got a high school diploma and B. She found true love.
How do I know it's true love? Because Aldridge is absolutely hideous. Spears and Aldridge must have a spiritual connection that Britney and her super-hunk ex-husband never came close to.
Their story is a classic, feel-good American tale. Spears and Aldridge are so happy together that she doesn't even care that he cheated on her with 28-year-old Kelli Dawson. That small slip-up didn't deter their engagement for one second.
While both are set on getting married, they haven't picked a specific date yet - mainly because Spears wants Maddie Briann to be a part of the ceremony. So, in three or four years, when little Maddie takes her first step, she very well may be qualified to be the flower girl at a Louisiana wedding where every guest is sure to be obliterated.
Sure, the pregnancy may have put a damper on how much fun the couple can have, but it certainly hasn't affected Aldrige's stellar work ethic and insatiable quest for knowledge.
The 19-year-old Aldridge is somehow balancing the tasks of raising Maddie Briann and cheating on Spears with the rigorous courseload at Southwest Mississippi Community College. Let's see Federline do that.
Though she'll never admit it, Britney has to be a little jealous of her younger sister. While the former pop princess continues to drink her sorrows away, Jamie Lynn is establishing a solid, family-oriented lifestyle.
Here's my message to you, Jamie Lynn: Brush off the haters. Don't let them hold you down.
