The Panhellenic Council will be hosting a "red carpet" themed Greek Winter Charity ball this Sunday from 4 - 8 p.m. in the Rome Ballroom. This event has earned the Panhellenic this year's Fraternity and Sorority Life Award for the Most Creative Sorority Effort. All proceeds from ticket sales and donations will benefit HuskyTHON.

HuskyTHON is the annual dance-a-thon hosted by UConn's Greek life to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network and the Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford.

"It's really exciting to have another opportunity to raise money for Connecticut Childrens Medical Center," said Panhellenic's Vice President of Public Relations Kelsey Larson, a 7th-semester psychology major. "We are going to have a prize drawing, a red carpet theme - it should be a lot of fun."

The event, planned by Jess Czahur, Panhellenic's Vice President of External Relations, has been long in the making.

"I'm so excited to have an opportunity to bring the panhellenic community together," said Panhellenic President Paige Blackoff, a 7th-semester English and human development family studies double major. "And really illustrate the unity and community that we have in the Greek system, as well as all the achievements of our chapters in the past year,"

Tickets for the event are $10 beforehand if submitted with a canned good, said Blackoff, which will be donated to a local food shelter. Without a canned good, tickets are $12 and can be purchased in the Office of Fraternity and Sorority life today. Tickets at the door are $15.
