Game of the weekend: Women's Soccer vs. Georgetown (Sun.)
UConn remained undefeated at home, with an exciting 2-1 victory over Georgetown. Linda Ruutu's first half goal looked to be enough until Georgetown's Sara Jordan's shot went past goalkeeper Jessica Dulski's outstretched fingers in the 76th minute. However, thanks to a charge led by Brittany Taylor, Melissa Busque was able to score less than two minutes later. The defense held the lead, and two missed opportunities by the Hoyas late in the match sealed the win for UConn.
Wish we were There: Volleyball at USF (Fri.)
The Huskies erased a two set deficit and won at South Florida 3-2. Four UConn players recorded double-digit digs and two Huskies had double-doubles. Big East Freshman of the Week Mattison Quayle collected 14 and 19 digs, while Samantha Arriaran added 44 assists to her 12 digs. Jessica Isaac led UConn with 23 digs. The Huskies improved to 9-9 on the year, 2-1 in the Big East, while the Bulls dropped to 9-4 (2-1).
The big letdown: Field Hockey at Princeton (Sun.)
No. 5 UConn started the weekend with a 6-1 win at Georgetown to move to 11-0 for the first time since 2004. Their bid to go 12-0 was quickly diminished Sunday as No. 7 Princeton ended the Huskies unbeaten season by a score of 3-1. After Loren Sherer put the Huskies ahead 1-0, the Tigers answered back with two goals late in the first half. Although UConn outshot the Tigers 9-2 in the second half, it was not enough to score a goal, as the Huskies dropped their record to 11-1.
