The ones to attend
Football vs. Louisville, Saturday, noon, Rentschler Field
If there's one team that has provided the Huskies with some memorable games over the past few years it has been Louisville. Larry Taylor's "fair catch" added controversy in 2007 and last year saw a late game comeback engineered by Zach Frazer. Although Louisville is off to a slow start, history has proven that anything can happen against the Cardinals. After a fourth-quarter collapse against Pittsburgh last weekend, UConn needs a big win. It's Homecoming too, so if you're lucky enough to have tickets you should definitely go - despite the weather.
Field hockey vs. Syracuse, Saturday, noon, Sherman Family Sports Complex
If you're not lucky enough to have tickets to the football game - fear not - there is a free on-campus alternative. It is a match up of last year's Big East championship that ended 1-0 on a controversial penalty corner with no time left on the clock. Loren Sherer is having a historically good year and any chance to watch her play should not be passed up. She has an equally talented supporting cast, and the 14-1 Huskies are fired up to make up for the last time they played the Orange.
Men's soccer vs. Pittsburgh, Saturday, 7 p.m., Morrone Stadium
To finish off Homecoming Saturday, men's soccer looks to run its unbeaten streak to seven against the Panthers. In their current streak the Huskies have no allowed a goal and are fresh off a dominating 4-0 win over then-No. 6 Harvard. New faces Alan Ponce and Carlos Alvarez have been productive and, with the return of Mike Pezza from injury, the Huskies are certainly poised to continue their run.
The one to follow up on
Women's soccer at Notre Dame, Friday, 7:30 p.m., South Bend, Ind.
The women's soccer team's season ended last year with a loss to Notre Dame in the Big East championship. Since then, the Huskies have gotten off to a better start this year. Traveling to face the Fighting Irish will be a good test.
