Despite the overwhelming presence of college basketball this weekend, the NBA and NHL still have a number of intriguing games this weekend.
Dallas Mavericks at Cleveland Caveliers Sunday 1:00 p.m. ABC
There are very few things that are almost a certainty, but the Cavs winning at home is close. LeBron and company are 33-1 at home and have won 10 in a row overall as of Thursday, which has helped them open up a 5 game lead on the Magic and the Celtics for first place in the Eastern Conferene. The Mavs are clinging to the final playoff spot in the West and sit 3 games ahead of the Suns.
San Antonio Spurs at New Orleans Hornets Sunday 8:00 p.m. ESPN
In a possible playoff match-up, Chris Paul leads the Hornets against a Tim Ducan-less Spurs squad. The Spurs are falling farther behind the first place Lakers - they are currently 9 ½ games behind. Paul may be one of the most exciting players to watch, so even though this game does not have playoff implications just yet, it's worth watching.
Tampa Bay Lightning at Washington Capitals Friday 7:00 p.m.
Though not on national TV, this game probably should be. While I don't usually advocate wathcing hockey, the fact that Alex Ovechkin is playing is enough of a reason to at least watch a little. The Caps forward is leading the league in scoring with 96 points on 51 goals and 45 assists and is always exciting to watch.
Arnold Palmer Invitational Saturday-Sunday NBC
With Tiger Woods back, it's always good to watch the final rounds in a PGA Tour event. Tiger was only two strokes back after the first round despite some inconsistant hitting. He won the event last year in the midst of his six-event winning streak. Look for him to do it again.
