UConn basketball player Ben Gordon was arrested early Friday on 3rd-degree assault and disorderly conduct charges. According to the UConn Police arrest log, Gordon, 19, of Mount Vernon, N.Y., was arrested after a female flagged down an officer near Gampel Pavilion while she was on her way to Police Headquarters. The female, identified as 19-year-old Megan Rourke of Avon, had a visibly bloody lip, according to the arrest log. She was described as being upset and crying. Rourke said that Gordon slapped her across the face with his hand in Gordon's room in South Campus. Gordon lives in South Building B. Rourke was later arrested for disorderly conduct, apparently after Gordon requested she be because she hit him. Gordon was not injured. Gordon was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond, and Rourke was issued a summons and released on a written promise to appear in court. Both are due in court on Feb. 25. Gordon traveled wth the team to Philadelphia and played in the game against Villanova Saturday. In the game, which UConn lost 79-70, Gordon scored 25 points. Assistant Athletic Director Kyle Muncy said Gordon would continue to play during the legal proceedings. Rourke was unavailable for comment Friday evening. Police could not comment Friday beyond what was included in the press release. Gordon is a sophomore guard for the Huskies, and he leads in scoring this year for the team, averaging 20 points per game.
