One of the three suspects arrested last month in the attempted burglary of the Gentry Building in November 2004 has been arrested in connection to a May 2004 burglary, according to UConn Police.

John Bjorge, 23, of West Hartford, was arrested last week and charged with 3rd-degree burglary and 1st-degree larceny. According to a press release from the UConn Police, detectives processing the Gentry Building crime scene recognized certain signature type similarities to a burglary that had occurred on May 3, 2004. In that attempted burglary, seven plasma televisions, valued at over $40,000, were stolen from two classrooms in Storrs Hall.

According to the press release, during the Gentry Building investigation UConn Police served a search and seizure warrant at Bjorge's West Hartford home and discovered a portion of a plasma television mounting plate - which was found to have been among the items stolen during the Storrs Hall burglary.

Bjorge had been the last of three suspects arrested for the Nov. 24, 2004 burglary. He remained at large until Dec. 27 when he turned himself into UConn Police. Bjorge, who was registered as a university student as of last semester, had already been on probation from a 2003 grand larceny conviction in Virginia, The Hartford Courant reported in December.

Bjorge and two other men allegedly attempted to steal approximately $75,000 in electronic equipment from the Gentry Building on Nov. 24, 2004, but were caught in the act by maintenance staff coming in to begin their work shifts at 4 a.m. that morning. The suspects fled, leaving some items behind.

"A latent fingerprint was lifted by UConn Police detectives and transmitted for comparison through [the Automated Fingerprint Identification System] operated by the Connecticut State Police," UConn Police Maj. Ronald Blicher said last month.
