On Saturday, Idealists United will be hosting a Funk the War protest starting at 3 p.m. and running until 6 p.m. all over campus. The purpose of the event is to celebrate the Bill of Rights, have a good time and show the campus the growing negative sentiment regarding the war in Iraq.

During the event anti-war ballads will be blasted over a rolling public address system throughout the campus and will encourage bystanders to join in. Those involved with the event will educate spectators of the current situation in Iraq and urge that they join the cause.

Momentum for this event started last Friday with the Rally in the Student Union Ballroom. There were performances from Panda and Child, Ali Telmasani, and Botfly and guest speaker Scott Deshefy, the Green Party candidate for Connecticut's 2nd Congressional district, came to speak from the otherwise unsung perspective of the Green party.
