Abstract:
It has been said that Sarah Palin, John McCain's vice presidential candidate, is too conservative for today's youth. To make such a statement seriously misses the mark on youth advocacy. Palin is exactly what youth need to thrive. She is pro-life. That is as pro-youth as she can be....

You say Palin would be a great choice for America's youth, but than fail to specify why a group that is generally overwhelmingly pro-choice, pro-comprehensive sex education, pro gay-marriage, and anti-intelligent design in schools is suddenly going to do a 180 and vote the social politics of the religious right. You also seem to forget Obama's plans to help young people pay for college and his promises not to send some of our former high school classmates off to the Middle East. Palin is young, yes, but she is also highly inexperienced and has not demonstrated she has the intellectual capabilities to be President or the comprehensive knowledge to control places with more than 9,000 people or that do not derive 80% of revenues from a finite, highly prized substance. The choice represents a blatant pander to disgruntled Hillary supporters, the religious right and a small-town middle America that thinks it has a monopoly on American values, and is evidence the McCain campaign is going all in with a mediocre hand.
Oh, and the fact we've had a conservative president does not mean America shares conservative principles. It could just mean they're better at exploiting public fears of terrorism, smearing opponents, running dirty campaigns against even their own party members (think Bush vs. John McCain 8 years ago) and winning Supreme Court cases.
