Point/Counterpoint: Who will win the national championship?

Abstract:
Mike: Ohio State Ohio State has been a disappointment in the last two BCS Championship games, but in 2008 they have a more experienced and talented team that will avenge those embarrassing losses and win the National Title. Led by Heisman frontrunner, running back Chris Wells, and the best defensive player in the nation in James Laurinaitis the Buckeyes will dominate the weakest major conference in college football - the Big Ten....

How can you say Ohio State's "mammoth" offensive line would bulldoze WVU's defensive line and LB's? Last year, everyone said OU's line would blow away the DL. If i remember correctly, Oklahoma had to resort to holding because WVU was just too fast. Speed wins in college football today, not 350 lb. linemen like Oklahoma had. Do research. Oh yeah, and in the Sugar Bowl a few years ago everyone said Georgia had the fastest defense, yet White and Slaton ripped through them. Devine is faster than Slaton was. So I guess we should continue to listen to the "experts."

Good Post Todd, same thing I was thinking as I read Mike's comments. How long do we have to listen to this crap from the OSU/Big Ten faithful before they wake up and realize speed kills. With 7 experienced defensive linemen rotating on 3 spots, and 8 linebackers on 3, the front 7 will dominate enough to allow the young secondary to grow up. This may be the deepest, fastest, most talented defensive the Mountaineers have ever fielded. It's a shame the rest of the country looks at RR leaving and doesn't understand that WVU improved it's coaching staff...I see the comments, shake my head, and laugh. All that said, I'm not even going to talk about the offense, they speak for themselves. I know what you're thinking, how'd I add 3 DL and 3 LB and come up with a front 7 ? Watch the 3-3 stack defense and figure it out (hint: Bandit Safety).

I am trying to figure out how anyone can say tOSU's OL would "bulldoze" the WVU defense? OU had arguably one of the best offensive lines in the country last year and they were just too slow to stop the blitz by WVU. Wells has yet to prove that he can win the big game and all of the so called experts are still picking him to win the Heisman this year. I guess we should all be used to the schools that are the media darlings. Regardless of the facts, the media will continue to embrace schools like tOSU, USC, PSU, UGA, UF, UM, Miami and FSU.

Hey Tim, What ind of a lying douche are you? Mendenhall had 88 yards rushing against OSU last year (not 40 as you say), and did you forget Juice Williams had 70, and Daniel Dufrene had 106 yards on just 8 carries! Juice and Dufrene are both back this year by the way. I am not even going to bother to waste my time to begin to look up your records for Tressel as we have already established you are an exaggerating, lying, glancing over importatnt details anal swab. West Virginia did not choke to Pitt last year, scUMs new head coach choked. Pitt lined 9 men in the box all night and little Richie Rod ran QB draws all night long. If you want to know what WVU would do to OSU if they met each other read Mark Schlabach's story from last November on ESPN.com.
