The Daily Campus

Editorial: 'Drive-in' movie was poorly executed

Abstract:
UConn has finally captured students attention and attempted to steer us away from late-night partying by showing the comedy "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" on a big screen outside of the library. There was ample space for seating, free popcorn and eager students....

Really? This is what you could come up with to write about? Apparently the $1 billion of our tax money going to rebuild Georgia after Russia's fireworks display doesn't matter to you. Or, what about the violent protests at the RNC? How about the arrests and crackdown on "Food Not Bombs" members in Minneapolis? Nah, you're probably right. Whining about irrelevant campus events is more pressing. Good job, Daily Campus Ed. Board.

I'm not sure what Georgia and Russia have to do with local campus news. I was going to go to this movie but didn't make it because I was too busy with other things. I wondered how it went, and this article told me. Believe it or not, local newspapers like the daily campus are SUPPOSED to report campus news, and this was the only campus event over the weekend.

Silly me, you're right. What happens with tax dollars and our civil rights has absolutely no bearing on college students at all! Also, this wasn't the only campus event over the weekend, the DC has devoted plenty of space to sports coverage and how poorly executed the movie was just the other day. Check out the September 2nd issue. I'm just annoyed by the redundant coverage of an event that really wasn't that important in the scheme of things.

not conservative and not a moron either

I never said it has no bearing on college students. If I want to read about "tax dollars and civil rights" I'll pick up a different paper, but this is a college newspaper that reports on college news. You wouldn't pick up the sports section of a paper and look for coverage of political conventions, would you?
