PetSmart Should Stop Selling Small Animals

Abstract:
PetSmart, an animal supply store, needs to get out of the small animal business. PetSmart makes billions of dollars a year by selling animal care supplies for all types of household pets and selling live small animals to supplement its revenue. The small animal business is not exceedingly profitable and contributes little to PetSmart's overall earnings....

Whiel I am definitely know fan of Pets Mart as they not only do not understand or care for much of their livestock, they also usually (there is sometimes the occasional "good employee") have no idea what and why they sell what they do, which can and often does (from my professional experience) lead to aquatic deaths from improper equipment, installation, treatment and more.
I just have one problem; the source. To me, listening to what PETA says is like putting Iran in charge of world terrorism control.

I just started working at petsmart this week, actually and when I heard about this video from PETA, I had to check it out. I've been going to orientations for my job as a Petshotel associate and pretty much every person Im working with is an animal freak like myself. I don't see how people like them, including myself would work for a place that mistreats animals the way that PETA said that they do. Actually, there is a whole organization made from employees from Petsmart which works against the killing of animals in shelters. THis was actually told to us during orientation. To me, if this was a company that was this ill-minded, I wouldn't think that they would be allowing an effort like this to take place in their company. Also, Petsmart associates are asked to give atleast a dollar or more to the donations which go straight to local animal shelters. Even during Katrina, when all those animals were left behind, petsmart sponserd these vans to go down to the disaster and help save the animals who were so coldly abandoned. What to think about this issue? It all seems very confusing to me.

Peta does have it's point about Petco and PetSmart, just look at the videos. However, it's not like every single place where the small animals are placed before being shipped off to the store is....not good at taking care of the animals. If these stores want to continue to sell animals they really need to step up and show employees how to take care of the animals and the places the animals go to before being shipped off to these stores, needs better living conditions and an actual certified vet to do inspections on animals. No low-life hick (who has no experience in any medical field) should be operating on an animal.
