Abstract:
Given the recent spate of sexual assaults here at UConn, it would be reasonable to assume that the university is doing all it can to protect the safety and privacy of its students.

Such a reasonable assumption would be wrong. The university makes available, online and automatically, the residence of every student on campus down to their building, floor and room number....

I actually had no idea my name, dorm and room number were listed online! That's crazy. I'm going to opt out now that I know about it. I agree that it should instead be an opt-in system... especially considering the assaults and break-ins that have happened recently. I am VERY frightened by this. Thanks for getting the word out.
