I met my husband Glenn in Mr. Kochanek's class back in 1976. He threw Glenn out on the first day because he thought Glenn knew more than he. The school had not let him skip accounting in the MBA program, despite his graduating from UMASS magna cum laude in Business but Mr. Kochanek was quick see talent and to see through bureaucracy. I believe that Glenn went on to be a teaching assistant for him. I was involved in the MBA student group (forget the name we had for it). We designed a survey to grade all our professors. Mr. K got high marks then as well. I don't think we realized he was so new. He was just plain one of the best professors in the program. What a nice tribute to him.

"Although at the time I had been teaching for nearly 20 years, I learned so much from Dick about truly engaging students in such a large section," good words!
