Justice for Janitors forms plan of action

Abstract:
Yesterday, Justice for Janitors met in the Student Organization Center of the Student Union to discuss the next step in their efforts to stop 26 UConn janitors from losing their jobs.

In attendance were organization leaders, student activists, janitors and their union representative....

There are janitors standing around with nothing to do often, or hiding in empty rooms to stay out of sight. We should be thinking do we need to be paying salaries to people who do not work. This is not hard to see in numerous buildings here on campus so one would imagine that this situation is replicated throughout the UConn campuses. Budget cuts and we all get to to do more for less, janitors included.

i dont get this....

We need to cut the budget...so lets fire some of these janitors...but then we get yelled at for being too "mean" for firing any of them. Seriously, this is absurd...

as for all those uconn students helping them...how about helping the 100,000s of people losing their jobs across the country.

And to the first post, nightwriter, i too have seen janitors..sitting around in MSB at night...Unions never ever forget their hourly coffee breaks...that you can be sure of.
