Heightened Security Deters Foreign Visits

Abstract:
America is gradually turning into an uninviting fortress fraught with heightened security and "keep out" signs.

This past week, customs laws for foreign airline passengers changed. Customs now requires 10 fingerprints rather than the previous two. The process is just as simple as before....

You do make some points to make, but you are missing the big picture. The fingerprints are just one of many things that customs perform on incoming guests. You are making it sound like all someone does is give fingerprints and then is told yes or no. The normal checks are still in place, the same screenings, procedures etc. The fingerprints are an added protection. Not quite sure how you think it is invasion of privacy. Its a fingerprint. Last time I checked, you leave them around in quite a few places. Hopefully you don't go back and make sure your prints remain "private".

This is a non-issue, and there isn't much more to it than what is reported in the news, unless someone cares why amy winehouse couldn't go to the US.
