Vassar Electrifies Jorgensen

Abstract:
As Phil Vassar ended his set, he sang out the chorus, "Do you like it? How about this? Wanna try it? Oh, oh, oh." And as the audience cheered louder, he smiled and finished, "I'll take that as a yes."

"I'll Take That as a Yes (The Hot Tub Song)" was only one of the country hits Vassar excited his fans with in his performance Friday at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts....

Blowout your ears

posted 10/01/07 @ 12:22 PM EST

Vassar electrifies audience? More like shock therapy! Thank you I've had enough!

It was a blowout! Volume levels were way above what can be considered safe. Everyone attending if they were not already deaf or wearing ear protection would now have some permanent damage to their hearing or so I have been educated by an audiologist to this obvious little known or ignored fact. Maybe you should be consulting a hearing specialist for assistance with, how to protect yourself from hearing loss.
There were people leaving. It wasn't the best attended show.
The talent or lack of is so often masked by overpowering volume. This was (in my opinion) the case with the concert this weekend. We should be including warnings before and during the show about the permanent damage this kind of noise does to the human hearing. Then again most people who indulge in this type of self torture might also advocate staring at the sun! I left my seat stepping to the back of the auditorium to listen in a subdued volume area but left anyway when I realized even when you could hear a bit better we were not dealing with anything other than organized noise that was doing more harm than good. The music was so vanilla bland without anything new being introduced besides a different face selling emotional fantasies and sexual promises never to be kept. Then again what higher education institution doesn't offer this kind of torture and mutilation to its student and public population? I guess its one point for Creationism and zero for Darwin this time. Argue your hearing loss with someone who will listen to you. Or better yet contact your lawyer their may be big money in this before the laws are changed. Loss of hearing will probably bring in millions. It's been legal to blow out human hearing for a long time.

The concert that I attended on Saturday wasn't that loud at all. Besides, concerts are supposed to be loud. Next time sit in the Mezzanine if you don't want to be too close to the speakers. I would have killed to be right up in the front row! This was the fourth time I had the opportunity to see Phil in concert, and it was his best show yet. Loud music and all!

Phil Vassar gave a great show. I haven't met a student yet that was there who didn't enjoy the show. He is a great entertainer. I loved it even more when at the end of the show, the Jorgensen staff allowed the fans to move closer to the stage. He also signed autographs for a couple of minutes which was awesome! I am so glad that my friends and I went to the show.
