Truax Named Big East Player Of The Year

UConn center fielder Micah Truax won her second consecutive Big East Player of the Year award, becoming just the fourth player in conference history to take home the award in back-to-back seasons.
The junior led the Big East in batting average at .508, and added four home runs and 12 RBIs.
Truax was joined on the the All-Big East First Team by teammates Jillian Ortega and Allie Gendron.
Ortega, who also was named First Team All-Big East last season and second team two years ago, put up the best numbers of her career despite switching from third base to shortstop this season. She finished the regular season batting .344 with 10 RBIs.
Gendron, a senior designated player, earned First Team honors for the first time in her career after batting .321 and knocking in eight RBI's on the season.
