UConn Says Good Luck To 89 Varsity Athletes

Baseball
Larry Day - Catcher - This year's co-captain was a Third Team All-Big East selection in 2006 and a pre-season All-Big East selection in 2007.
Dennis Donovan - Infielder - The co-captain leads UConn this season with a .328 batting average and 29 RBI. He set the single-season record for assists in 2006 with 162.
Josh Farkes - Outfielder - Led the team in 2006 with a .349 batting average and a .507 slugging percentage.
Ted Garry - Pitcher - Reliever led team in 2005 in saves with 4 and 22 appearances. He struck out 13 batters in 21.2 innings this season.
Brendan McGinn - Pitcher - Led team this season with 2.60 ERA and a 6-1 record.
Matt Untiet - Infielder - Tied for team lead in doubles with 10 this season. Set single-season put-out record with 493 in 2006.
Men's Basketball
Marty Gagne - Guard - Walk-on played four games for the Huskies in 2005-2006, and six games in 2006-2007.
Men's Cross Country
Kyle Eckman - Finished 116th at the New England Championships, finished second in the Central Connecticut Mini Meet and finished 74th in the Big East Championships in 2006.
Max Feldman - Earned NCAA All-Academic honors and participated in the NCAA Cross Country Championships, finishing 135th in 2006.
Women's Cross Country
Jillian Sullivan - NCAA All-Academic Team member set the school-record with a 21 minutes, 16 seconds time at the NCAA Championships on her way to earning an All-American honor.
Field Hockey
Kristin Galuski - Forward - Finished third on the team with 8 goals and fourth on the team with 18 points in 2006.
Meagan Hoffman - Midfielder - Finished second on the team with 8 assists and third on the team with 22 points in 2006.
Barbie Steffen - Back - Started a 25 games for the Huskies, tieing for the team lead, and contributed an assist in 2006.
Football
Deon Anderson - Fullback - A fifth-year senior, he contributed both on offense and special teams and finished 2006 season with 101 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was selected in the 6th round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys.
Matt Applebaum - Guard - A fifth-year senior and starter at left guard earned the starting job after switching over from the defensive side of the ball in 2005.
Allan Barnes - Free Safety - Contributed on both defense and special teams, finishing his career with 59 tackles for the Huskies.
Ray Blagman - Defensive Tackle - Had 59 tackles and 1.5 sacks in his career. He signed with the Arizona Cardinals as a free agent.
Matt Bonislawski - Quarterback - Finished third on the team with 859 yards of total offense and finished with 6 touchdowns in 2006.
Terry Cauley - Tailback - A 2006 team captain, he had a school-record 13 100 yard games in his career, and was a freshman All-American in 2002. He signed as a free agent with the Washington Redskins.
Ernest Cole - Cornerback - Finished 2006 with 15 tackles, 2 of which were for loss, and broke up 5 passes on the year.
Justin DeRubertis - Linebacker - Walk-on turned scholarship-winner played 23 games with 15 tackles and an interception in his career.
M.J. Estep - Free Safety - Finished the 2006 season with an interception and 48 tackles, 4 of which were for loss.
Rhema Fuller - Defensive Tackle - A 2006 team captain, Fuller finished the season with 37 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and a recovered fumble. He became an inaugural member of the National Football Foundation's National Honor Society.
Dan Murray - Tight End - Finished 2006 with 113 receiving yards and a touchdown. He signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a free agent.
Matt Nuzie - Kicker - Went 4-for-10 on field goals on the year with a long of 47 yards. His 25 points on the season led all kickers.
Jahi Smith - Cornerback - Named one of four team captains in 2006, but had his season cut short because of concussions. He finished his playing career with 10 tackles.
Graig Vicidomino - Kicker - Went 1-for-4 on field goals with a long of 19 yards, and went 3-for-3 on PAT's to finish 2006 with 6 points.
Jason Ward - Defensive End - A native Canadian and fifth year senior, missed the 2006 season due to injury, but finished his career with 36 tackles and 3 sacks. He signed with the CFL's BC Lions after being drafted in the sixth round of the CFL Draft.
Stanley Williams - Tailback - A senior walk-on who contributed on defense playing five games and recorded a solo tackle on the year.
Brandon Young - Wide Receiver - Fifth-year senior was second on the team with 263 receiving yards and led the team with 3 receiving touchdowns in 2006.
Golf
Jason Parajeckas - Co-captain accumulated numerous awards during his Husky career including the individual NEIGA Championship in 2005.
Daniel White - A 2006 co-captain, White had a scoring average of 77.35 this season.
Men's Ice Hockey
Brian Burns - Forward - Received UConn's seventh-player award in 2005-2006, and recorded 13 assists in the 2006-2007 season.
B.J. Crum - Defenseman - Finished his career with 18 goals, 20 assists and 38 points.
Cole Koidahl - Forward - UConn MVP in the 2005-2006 season, finished the 2006-2007 season ranked second on the Huskies with 21 assists and 34 points.
Nick Marean - Defenseman - Finished his playing career with 10 points on 2 goals and 8 assists for the Huskies.
Scott McDougall - Forward - Finished his career with 43 points, after getting 5 goals and 7 assists in the 2006-2007 season.
Jarrett Scarpaci - Forward - Finished the 2006-2007 season with 11 points on 3 goals and 8 assists.
Matt Scherer - Forward - Named All-Atlantic Hockey Second Team finishing 10th in the conference with 36 points in the 2006-2007 season. Led the team with 36 points and 22 goals.
Eric St. Arnauld - Forward - Finished his career with 9 goals, 19 assists for 28 points for the Huskies.
Trevor Stewart - Forward - Named best defensive forward by the Atlantic Hockey Conference, finishing first on the Huskies with 23 assists and third on the team with 32 points on the year.
Scott Tomes - Goalie - Started 10 games in 2006-2007 and finished second on the team with a 3.82 goals-against average. Currently playing for the Cincinnati Cyclones of the East Coast Hockey League.
Women's Ice Hockey
Leslie Hurburt - Forward - Finished the 2006-2007 season eighth on the team with 10 points off 6 goals and 4 assists.
Alicia Ramolla - Defenseman - The two-time captain is a former member of the Hockey East All-Academic team. Finished 2006-2007 with a goal and 6 assists.
Katherine Van Deveire - Forward - Had 8 points off a goal and 7 assists in 34 games in the 2006-2007 season.
Natalie Vibert - Defenseman - Captain finished the 2006-2007 season second on the Huskies with 16 assists and tied for second with 25 points.
Lacrosse
Shannon Burke - Midfielder - First UConn player to ever score 100 points in a single season. She is UConn's all-time leader in points with 245, assists with 103, and consecutive games with a goal scored with 52. She was named Big East Midfielder of the Year for 2007.
Tori Joel - Midfielder - Tri-captain finished fifth on the team in 2007 with 22 points on 17 goals and 5 assists.
Kristin Link - Midfielder - Third-team All-Big East selection in 2007 has fourth most goals in UConn history with 102, and sixth most points with 115.
Clare Schwan - Midfielder - Fifth-year senior and former captain was second in the Big East with 30 caused turnovers and 39 ground balls on the 2007 season.
Laura Trzasko - Midfielder - Tri-captain has third best shooting percentage in UConn history at .447.
Janet Williams - Midfielder /Attack - Tri-captain finished fourth on the team in 2007 with career-high 24 points off of 23 goals and an assist.
Men's Soccer
Kevin Burns - Midfielder - Finished career with 4 goals, 8 assists and 16 points. Was selected by the Columbus Crew, becoming the 15th player to be drafted in school history.
Glen Carnahan - Defenseman - Backup defender played in 27 career games and finished with 1 goal and 2 points.
Stanley Ford - Forward - Became a starter in 2005 and finished career with 5 goals, 9 assists and 19 points.
Ryan Kerlew - Defenseman - Transfer from Duke played 17 games in the 2006 season.
Women's Soccer
Niki Cross - Forward/Midfielder - Co-captain finished her playing career with 13 goals, 8 assists and 34 points.
Courtney Sands - Defenseman - Co-captain finished the 2007 season with a goal, an assist and 3 points.
Softball
Holly Calcagno - Thidbasman/Shortstop - Second on the team in 2007 with a .347 batting average and 7 home runs.
Krista Michalczyk - Pitcher - Led the 2007 squad with 11 victories and 27 strikeouts.
Jessica Quan - Secondbasman - Led the team in 2007 with 2 triples on the offensive end and 76 assists on the defensive side of the ball.
Kristina Tolles - Pitcher/Outfielder - Compiled a 1-1 record with 8 strikeouts in 13.2 innings in 2007.
Men's Swimming & Diving
Nick Acquavito - Breaststroke - Tri-captain was a Big East and U.S. Open competitor for both the 100 and 200-meter breaststroke since his freshman year.
Tristan Jones - Breaststroke - Tri-captain was the recipient of the Counseling Program for Intercollegiate Athlete's Kinsman Award for achievement both inside and outside of athletics.
Tim Wong - Butterfly - Tri-Captain was honored by the team with the McDevitt Inspirational Swimmers Award.
Women's Swimming & Diving
Diane Duncheskie - Butterfly/Breaststroke - Was honored by the team with the CPIA Award and was a Big East Academic All-Star for four years in a row, and is part of the group that set the school record for the 200-meter medley relay.
Heather Grieb - Backstroke - Was honored by the team with the McDevitt Inspirational Swimmers Award after coming back from injuries.
Juliet Paradine - Butterfly/Backstroke - Qualified in the Big East for 100-meter and 200-meter backstroke and the 100-meter butterfly every year since 2004.
Men's Tennis
Joel Gamoran - Co-captain went 3-2 in singles play and had a 3-5 mark in doubles play in 2007.
Craig Helstowski - Went 2-4 in doubles play in 2007.
Women's Tennis
Katherine Brazauskas - Was a walk-on who was a member of the Huskies for three years.
Christine Burek - Tri-captain had an overall singles record of 5-22 and an 8-21 mark in doubles in 2007.
Elizabeth Dibbs - Tri-captain finished the 2007 season with a 12-7 record in singles and a 10-22 mark in doubles-play.
Ashley Petruzzi - Tri-captain had the best winning percentage on the team in singles play, going 11-3 in 2007 while going 7-2 in doubles play.
Men's Track & Field
Sean Berg - Multi/High Hurdle - Won the Heptathalon at the Big East Championships for the second year in a row with 5,137 points in 2007.
Edwin Campbell - Relays - Finished the 2007 Big East Championships placing third in the 400-meter-dash.
Basil Campbell - High Hurdles - Earned All-Big East honors in 2005-2006. Came in third place in the 2007 Husky Invite in the 100-meter-hurdles.
Kyle Eckman - Finished 10th in the 1000-meter run at the 2007 New England Championships.
Max Feldman - Distance/Middle Distance - Earned eighth place in the mile run at the 2007 Big East Championships.
Daniel Hutcherson - High Jump/Triple Jump - Placed fourth in the high jump at the 2007 Big East Championships.
Aaron Isaac - Throws - Won the individual title for the hammer throw at the 2007 Husky Spring Invite and the individual title for the weight throw at the 2007 New England Championships.
Kelechi Ndu - Sprints - Earned All-Big East honors in 2005-2006 after finishing in third place in the 60 meter dash at the 2006 Big East Championships.
Jonas TePaske - Pole Vault - Finished third in the pole vault at the 2007 Husky Spring Invite and earned All-Big East honors in 2005-2006.
Women's Track & Field
Allison Booth - Throws - Finished third in the discus throw at the 2006 UConn Invite.
Cassie Buckwalter - Throws - Was the runner-up in the weight throw in the 2006 New England Championships.
Jennifer Rogers - Sprints/Jumps - Was an All-Big East member and New England Champion and finished first in the long jump at the 2007 UConn Select Invitational.
Jillian Sullivan - Distance - Set the school record for the 3,000 meter Steeplechase at the 2007 UConn Select Invitational.
Volleyball
Kaity Craig - Outside Hitter - Co-captain finished the 2006 season with 60 kills, 23 digs, and 6 blocked shots.
Megan Silver - Middle Hitter - Co-captain finished the 2006 season with 109 kills and a team leading 13 blocks.
