Job opportunities from Travelers Insurance

On Wednesday, September 18th, Representatives from Traveler’s Insurance, some of who were UConn alumni, visited campus to present students with internship, job and career opportunities at the company during Traveler’s Day.
For many students, internships are the key step between college and getting a full-time job.
Yasir Aziz, a 7th-semester biology major, said he was looking for an internship opportunity.
Aziz added the require technical and computer skills where an intriguing elements to the Traveler’s job opportunities.
Aziz plans to apply for a Travelers internship. He loves that UConn has employees on campus and wishes there were more events like Traveler’s Day.
Robert Lin, a 3rd-semester accounting major sophomore, was one of many students to stop by the Travelers tables and see what the representatives had to say.
“[The representative] talked about how to get an internship at Travelers, and I asked how he actually became one of the workers there, and how my accounting major would best fit into their work,” said Lin.
Lin has been searching for internships for a while now and is looking for a change “to get started in life.” To him Traveler’s offered an opportunity to do that.
The employee Lin talked to was a UConn graduate who focused on financial planning, but he was one of many former huskies to returning to Storrs with the company for Travelers’ Day.
Talia Stigliano, a UConn alumna who graduated in 2009 and majored in finance, said she enjoys working at Travelers and explained the insurance company visited UConn on Wednesday to tell students what Traveler’s career opportunities are available to tem.
In addition to providing information to students, representative where handing out Travelers backpacks, brochures and laundry bags.
The event was sponsored by UConn’s Center for Career Development. Following the Travelers’ Day event on Fairfield Way, the various representatives from Travelers Insurance held a “How to Navigate a Career Fair” event on Wednesday in the Homer Babbidge Library from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
