Spring Break
A little girl sat down at the school cafeteria to eat her lunch. She bent over it, hands clasped, to say grace. No doubt her parents taught her that it was the right and proper thing to do. A teacher came over to tell her to stop, because she couldn't pray in schools.
It's New England and it's winter, which means below freezing temperatures. This seems like common knowledge, but apparently some people within the administration don't quite grasp the notion of snow and cold weather. All over campus, in dorms, apartments and even retail facilities, pipes have been bursting, causing flooding and building damage.
I'm responding to Joshua Levinson's article "Just let me smoke in peace, please" published on Jan. 28. In it Levinson claims everyone has an addiction. To compare a chemical addiction to an "addiction" to shopping or religion is inaccurate, irresponsible and offensive.
This letter is in response to the Thursday, Jan. 22 article entitled, "Hypocritical media far from 'Liberal'". No matter where you look -whether it is in the tabloids, the New York Times, or video award shows- you will see some member of the media acting in a leftist, liberal demeanor, cowering behind their so called freedom of speech.
HPV can truly be a scary thing. As one of the many infected college students, I know. After reading the article in Monday's paper, I wanted to share a little bit about my experience with it, and a few things the article didn't mention that students at UConn should be aware of.
Sean Vivier, in his Jan. 22 column entitled, "Elect Gary Nolan, Libertarian for President," provided an analysis of Libertarian party goals that suffered somewhat from its own superficiality. Vivier neglected to address several key points essential to effective and conscientious Libertarian governance, and contradicts himself in his support of Gary Nolan.
