One of the most popular pastimes on campus is frequenting the bar scene. Whether you go for the martinis, the pennies or the nickels, many girls take fashion for the bar very seriously. The bar offers an outlet for fashion the daily cold weather and unshovelled sidewalks don't permit.
Wednesday night at the Jorgensen Center for Performing Arts, Dr. Maya Angelou delivered an impressive speech of hope. She encouraged everyone, not just students or young people, but all people, to reach their full potential, because we are not only worth it, but we owe it to ourselves and our ancestors who are the reason why we are here today and the reason this country is as great as it is.
Prior to his reading at the Konover Auditorium on Tuesday night, I spoke with poet Paul Muldoon concerning his views on modern poetry. Muldoon teaches at Princeton University, and is the author of 25 books of poetry, the latest of which, 2002's "Moy Sand and Gravel," was selected as the winner of the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry.
Eve Ensler's, "The Vagina Monologues" was an energetic and enlightening performance presented by UConn students this past Wednesday and Thursday at von der Mehden recital hall. The show was sponsored by the UConn V-day campaign, the UConn's women's center and SUBOG.
