Soulful rock hits the Webster

A night of soul, bluesy rock and intensity was what was in store for the Webster Theatre in Hartford on Saturday night as it was graced with music that is not often heard in the venue. Edwin McCain stopped by with his band to provide fans with his vast array of soulful tunes.

Sweet and sincere are not words that are often used to describe a movie by writer-director Kevin Smith, but "Jersey Girl" seems to defy all preconceptions that anyone might have about the director, the stars and the romantic comedy genre itself. Even calling it a romantic comedy might be a little off base, because one of the surprises of "Jersey Girl" is that it turns out to be a touching family drama with a genuinely heart-felt message.

For the past month UConn's Women Center honored Women's "Herstory" month. The theme for March was women inspiring hope and possibility. The month had various activities including lectures, activities and guided meditation which celebrated women, more specifically women who have changed and inspired history.

With what seems like half of campus moving into apartments and houses next year, now is the perfect time to learn how to cook. Here to help is Kevin Roberts with his new, hip-approach cookbook, "Munchies." Geared towards guys who need to learn to eat somewhere other than Taco Bell and with handy recipes for the female sex as well, the book is a pretty well-rounded guide to some fun things to do in the kitchen.

After a three year hiatus, 25-year-old Usher Raymond IV is back once again with his fifth album, "Confessions." Recently released, the highly anticipated album has already put out its first single, the club banger "Yeah," featuring Ludacris and Lil' Jon. The song is receiving significant airplay on both radio and television and has fans wanting more.
