Championship hopes alive as Huskies host Syracuse

To no one's surprise, the coach is looking forward to the weekend. The rival comes to town, it's the regular season finale and there's the chance for a championship to be won. A lot is on the line and there's a lot on their plate as UConn coach Jim Calhoun and the Huskies prepare to take on Syracuse Saturday at Gampel Pavilion.

UConn seeded in unfamiliar territory

For the first time in 11 seasons, the Huskies did not win the Big East regular season title. For the first time in 11 years, the Huskies aren't the No. 1 seed in the Big East Tournament. Although the Huskies have had problems all season, this is the first big streak that has ended.

After one of the most contemptuous off-seasons in the history of baseball, the game got off to a positive start Wednesday as the Washington Nationals played in and won their first game ever. After floundering in Montreal for over a decade (since they lost a possible National League pennant and maybe even a World Series title to the 1994 strike), the former-Expos, now-Nationals had a sense of legitimacy for the first time in years.

Women's hockey moving on up

The UConn women's ice hockey team is up north today to finish out the regular season against conference opponent Maine. 'Up' also represents the direction the team's overall play has been heading since early February after losing at Boston College. Since then the Huskies (13-11-8, 9-5-4 Hockey East) have not lost a game.

Men's hockey falls on Senior Night

Even a loss to in-state rival Quinnipiac was not enough to ruin the night for the Huskies. In what was the last home game of the season and the Huskies' annual senior night, Quinnipiac came in and stole the show with a 4-2 victory at the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum Thursday night.

Spring Break is almost upon us, and for many it will be a week full of sun, surf and swimsuits as college kids around the world converge on Florida or Mexico. For others, it will be a great chance get in some last-chance skiing and snowboarding as winter draws to a close.

All things must come to an end, and so the women's indoor track season is upon its final meet. For some on the team, the season has already come to an end, but for seven individuals and two relay teams there is one last chance to prove themselves. The team will travel to Boston this weekend to compete in the E.
