Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell has come out as a strong supporter of stem cell research recently. Her proposed bill supporting the research would grant $10 to $20 million to research institutes such as UConn. The bill is a welcome step in the right direction.
I think my favorite episode of "South Park" has to be when Cartman joins the North American Man/Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) and almost gets him and all his friends molested by 40-year-old men. Hysterical. But it wasn't until recently that I discovered the startling truth behind the episode: NAMBLA is real.

As our van pulled to the side of the curb in front of the hotel in Times Square, amid the honking, yellow cabs and flashing screens adorning overshadowing buildings, a speeding city bus collided with the open door of a pulled over cab, taking it off its hinges with a loud smack! My sister and I appeared to be the only two people who noticed this accident on the opposite side of the street, as everyone else was caught up in the havoc of Friday afternoon rush hour.
From what I can tell, the construction at Hilltop Apartments this summer is being handled logically, with compensation for residents and an effort to find housing for those who need to remain on campus. However, I noticed one element of the plan that's going to be a problem come May 8.
