Resilient Huskies defeat Stags

After Fairfield was able to put together a string of runs in the seventh inning to erase a seven-run deficit, it appeared the Huskies were falling even further down the basement stairs. These Huskies, however, were not only willing to fight, but Joshua MacDonald led them out on top.

UConn coach Bonnie Rosen was so happy Tuesday afternoon that she gave every member of her team a high five and it wasn't because it was a sunny, 80 degree day in Storrs. The Huskies cruised to a 14-7 victory over New Hampshire Tuesday at Morrone Stadium.

This past weekend fans and sports writers alike got a sneak preview of the 2005 UConn football team. Although the game allowed some players to prove their worth, the majority of people walked away from Rentschler Fied without any idea who will take the field Sept.

Garner, Mullin lead the way

This past weekend, the UConn women's outdoor track and field team split up. While a majority of the team traveled to the Brown Invitational, captains April Garner and Deirdre Mullen went to California. Mullen and Garner didn't travel across the country to just sunbathe though, they were there to compete on a national level.

Through all of her success, senior attack/midfielder Tracy Mullaney remains forever humble and proud of her team. "No one can accomplish anything without the help of their teammates," Mullaney said. Humility as well as success are qualities that personify Mullaney's sterling career at UConn.

When I began thinking about a topic for this week's PGA article I was stuck. I didn't want to write about the Big Four because that's all we here about. Also, no one of note played in the MCI Heritage Open last week, so it was tough to dig up a good story from that.
