While politicians complain about an invasion on our Southern border in Arizona and New Mexico, a more tangible influx of Latino influence is crossing through Miami in the form of "reggaeton." Puerto Rican born Daddy Yankee pioneers this Spanish language hip-hop into the American mainstream with his catchy hit song "Gasolina" off of his latest album, "Barrio Fino.
Blondie played there. So did Joan Jett, The Police, The Ramones and Bruce Springsteen. It is sad to think that something that has become an icon of rock music since 1973 - not only in New York City, but around the world - may have to shut down its doors for good.
Students from all over campus crowded into the Student Union Friday evening to take part in SUBOG's first UConn Late Night of the semester. Activities were spread throughout the Student Union building, featuring attractions such as bingo, photo T-shirts, a game show and various arts and crafts, which encouraged students to bring their creations back to their dorm rooms.
Instead of advocating charitable donations Kanye West advocated his hatred for President George W. Bush during the NBC fund-raiser for the survivors of Hurricane Katrina. "George Bush doesn't care about black people" was the last thing he was able to say before they cut the live feed and instead went to comedian Chris Tucker.
