MANSFIELD - Town politicians, entrepreneurs and citizens met Tuesday night at a public hearing in the presence of the town council to discuss the Municipal Development Plan, a proposed town makeover that would revamp Mansfield and create a structured Storrs town center.
A second UConn housing complex has been put under surveillance by fire and police patrols as of Sept. 17. In addition to Charter Oak Suites, which according to university spokeswoman Karen Grava, houses 656 residents, Charter Oak Apartments, which house about 500 students, are now being patrolled in the event of an emergency.
The UConn Blood Drive, sponsored by the UConn Red Cross Club, ran from Oct. 3 through Oct. 7 in the Wilbur Cross Building and "it was definitely a success and exceeded expectations," according to Tanya Brinkman, the account manager for Blood Services for the Connecticut Region Red Cross.
Free compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs will be given out to students today at the Co-op. Connecticut Light and Power and the UConn Office of Environmental Policy are co-sponsoring the event in an effort to increase energy awareness and conservation on campus.
