On the inside of his album cover, singer/songwriter Greg Laswell writes, "All my songs deal with the same things these days: pain, lies, faith, guilt, and loss." While these adjectives can be used to describe a multitude of sappy songwriters, the tone on Laswell's debut record, "Through Toledo," is surprisingly sans angst-especially considering that his inspiration for the album was the event of his wife's abandonment. The Women's Center will begin its "Thursday Night at the Movies," film series at 7 p.m. with the 2002 oscar-nominated film "Whale Rider," starring Keisha Castle-Hughes as Pai and Rawiri Paratene as Koro. The film will be shown in the Women's Center's program room. (0) comments
Last night the Fine Arts Deparment hosted the Indian film, "Ghare-Baire, Home and the World,"lastnight. The film was directed by Satyajit Ray, and based on the novel by Rabindranath Tagore. The movie was not the typical "Bollywood" production, replete with music and dance-it instead focused on realism. (0) comments
