Monday, more than 100 new state laws took effect in Connecticut. Amongst the most discussed of these recent pieces of legislation is the state's new law against serving alcohol to minors on one's own private property. According to the Stamford Advocate, "Anyone who knowingly allows a minor to consume alcohol on his or her property - or does not make 'reasonable efforts' to stop them from drinking - will be in violation of the law. The actual quote being, "There are no guarantees in life, except that someday you will die." F our students were given space in HuskyTalk to say what they thought of the new system for purchasing basketball tickets. Not one of the students said anything positive, and one even went so far to say that UConn has ruined everything that once was fun. (8) comments
This summer I was visiting my grandfather when my cousin's husband came by with his kids. While I had turned on CNN earlier, he switched it to FOX News. I questioned this change and I was told, "I watch it because it's funny." I guess less people are laughing these days at the right-wing clowns that populate the 24-hour news network. (1) comment
