An oversight committee which supervises UConn Construction Project met for the first time on Sept. 20 at the UConn Health Center, according to Barry Fieldman, interim chief operating officer. The purpose of the committee is to make sure that the "UConn 2000 Project," which consists of the construction of big buildings, classrooms and dorms, conducts a well-delivered and safe construction of buildings based on UConn policies, according to Jim Bradley, interim execute director of architectural and engineering services. College Democrats Bring Lamont, Clark To Campus

Students, faculty, community members and the national media were at the end of Fairfield Way Friday, Oct. 6, for a widely publicized rally featuring Ned Lamont and General Wesley Clark. Loud music blared from speakers on both sides of the stage set up outside of the Student Union, reporters carried around large cameras and Ned Lamont signs occupied every grassy space in sight. As a cool crisp autumn breeze blew defiantly upon students traversing the rugged terrain of Sleeping Giant State Park, a group of eight students beheld a distant spotted valley of yellow, orange and green trees decorating the landscape. On Saturday, the students and three Husky Excursion guides stuffed into a van and headed to Hamden. (0) comments

UConn's first blood drive this year was held at Wilbur Cross in the North Reading Room last week and exceeded expectations. "If we did 150 [pints] in one day it would be a miracle," said Anne Harford, an account manager of the American Red Cross. That goal was eventually reached. (0) comments

Six years after the UConn 2000 endowment, funds set aside for building projects to benefit the University of Connecticut, proposals for new facilities are still being carried out. The UConn Health Center (UHC) located in Farmington is currently seeking funds to purchase a building located on Farmington Avenue. (0) comments

More than 450 high school band students converged on Storrs Saturday morning for Band Day 2006. The day started off rather chilly, but the air was filled with enthusiasm as the high schoolers cheered the beginning of Band Day. Band Day is an event the UConn Marching Band (UCMB) has been putting on for more than 25 years. (0) comments
