In an Oct. 5 column in the Lancashire Telegraph newspaper, Jack Straw, the British House of Commons leader, was quoted as saying "I find it uncomfortable when I'm interviewing [Muslim] women who are wearing [a veil]." Straw continued by saying that while he does not believe these women should be forced to dress without covering their faces, he does think removing these veils would facilitate better communication and generally improve relations between Britain's Muslim and non-Muslim communities. Quentin Tarantino needs to get to work, none of this four or five years between movies nonsense. His talent is distinct and cannot be imitated. Many would agree with me that our culture is sick. But few really go further with their diagnosis and tell you what specific illness plagues American culture. That's what I'm going to do! Our culture is schizophrenic. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition, symptoms that indicate schizophrenia include dysfunctions in "perception, inferential thinking, language and communication, behavioral monitoring, affect, fluency and productivity of thought and speech, hedonic capacity, volition and drive, and attention.
