Commentary

Religious liberty has always been a core American value. While America has not been perfect, it has far surpassed other countries with its track record of religious freedom. Contrary to the idea espoused by some that there is a "war on religion" in America, there is reason to believe the American government is showing undue favoritism toward religion in the form of special exemptions from certain laws and regulations and in tax exemptions for what may really be considered luxury items that are not in any way related to the practice of a specific religion. Meet Tila Tequila, a 25-year-old petite Vietnamese-American girl who describes herself as "the baddest bitch on the block." Tila appeared in the latest issue of Rolling Stone on their "Hot List." She has a clothing line, an offer for a book deal and is a budding hip-hop star. (1) comment

Since the start of the U.S.' global "war on terror", the abuse of detainees by U.S. officials and the confinement of suspected terrorists in secret locations without any trial or evidence have become common practice. These actions are justified by the claim that they help maintain the security of America's people. (4) comments

Would you rather be in Buckley dining hall eating fish tacos and green meatloaf or be served fresh lobster tail and filet mignon in the Burton Family Football Complex? Although the first selection is appetizing, I feel that most people would savor the second selection. (5) comments

Thank you to the Marching Band for waking me from my drunken stupor at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. My roommate has freakishly small nipples ... they are smaller than dimes. My roommate yells "Geronimo" whenever he jumps off of the bunkbed. Walking on to the UConn Men's Basketball team this weekend is going to be cake. (0) comments
