Over 70 people were present on Sunday evening when the William Benton Museum of Art played host to "Music on a Sunday Afternoon," a series of American Art Songs, presented by the UConn Music Department. Art songs are a genre of music, which feature poems set to musical arrangements. (0) comments
UConn Community Assistants (CAs) of Charter Oak apartment complex made a difference this year by organizing the "Candy Corn Carnival" on Oct. 28 from 2 p.m. to 5p.m. for local children of the area. Writer Jennifer O. Bryant gave an overview and background information on her latest book, "The USDF Guide to Dressage: The Official Guide of the United States Dressage Federation." The reading, which took place at the UConn Co-op, was host to an intimate audience consisting of about 25 people, nearly all of which were familiar with the sport of dressage. (0) comments
In the honor of UConn's 125th birthday, the William Benton Museum contributed to the university's celebration by having an exhibition, "The President and the Professor," on October 27th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Steven Kern, the Benton's new director, greeted each person and welcomed them to the exhibition. In his adaptation of a memoir by Augusten Burroughs, director Ryan Murphy (Nip/Tuck) captures life as an offspring of a dysfunctional marriage in the satirical drama "Running with Scissors." Murphy brings to the screen the wit and humor of Burroughs' memoir in which he tells of his troubled childhood and growing up in the 1970's. (0) comments
