A complete change of pace and third period goals helped UConn take its 13th win of the season, 4-1 Saturday at home against Hockey East rival Northeastern, then the Huskies traveled to Boston to complete the series on Sunday, with a 2-0 win. "It's like Jekyll and Hyde," said head coach Heather Linstad. (0) comments

Huskies Lose Fourth Straight

HARTFORD - Herbert Hill stormed through the lane with 1:31 remaining, took a pass from Weyinmi Efejuku and slammed the ball through the rim. Jeff Adrien and Doug Wiggins stood by in bewilderment, unable to do anything to stop him. That's pretty much the way the entire second half went for the Huskies. (0) comments

The 10,167 fans at Gampel Pavilion Saturday made up the first sellout of the season for the women's basketball team and those fans were witness to one of the sloppiest games this season by the Huskies, who accounted for 27 turnovers, including 15 in the first half. (0) comments

HARTFORD - Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, but three times is a trend. However, sometimes the lack of desire and ferociousness of the team are the shackles that restrain the Huskies from becoming an elite hockey power. (0) comments

Thabeet May Return Next Year

Men's Basketball Notebook

The speculation before the season was that the Huskies would be lucky to get more than a year out of 7-foot-3 freshman center Hasheem Thabeet. Now, it appears increasingly likely that this may be the case. Thabeet, who finished Saturday's game with 5 blocks but just 1 point, has been widely predicted by scouts to be a first-round pick should he declare himself eligible for the 2007 NBA Draft. Charles Learning Each Game

Women's Basketball Notebook

Tina Charles may have stolen the show Saturday night tying a school record for blocked shots and setting a new Big East freshman record for the number of blocked shots in a game, but her youth was apparent to the coaching staff all night. During the game, assistant head coach Jamelle Elliot was heard yelling at Charles to stay in the lane on defense as she would go out to guard one of the Irish guards that would be driving the lane.
