Harlem, late 1960s/early 1970s, lots of heroin, guns, gangsters, good cops, crooked cops, Denzel Washington acting as a bad-motha'-shut-your-mouth, Russell Crowe acting as a not-so-bad-but-still-kind-of-bad-motha'-shut-your-mouth. Here's "American Gangster" in an even smaller nutshell: Oscar-worthy. (1) comment
Chances are that if you're a fan of Jerry Seinfeld you've already heard about "Bee Movie," the film he co-wrote, co-produced and starred in. For those that haven't, here's a summary: it's a movie about nothing. Barry B. I've been getting a lot of requests of late for quick and easy meals that can substitute for full dinners. This pasta dish is great because it cooks in about 20 minutes, but tastes like it took much longer. Armor For Sleep's third album officially dropped in stores and online the day before Halloween. Their album, "Smile For Them," is not a bad release from Armor For Sleep, especially since this album is their first from a new label. The first two CDs were released by Equal Vision Records, but this one is under Sire Records. (1) comment
The highly anticipated Todd Haynes film, "I'm Not There," a Bob Dylan biopic, doesn't open until Nov. 21 (and even then it's only showing in NY and LA), but the film's soundtrack, which consists of 33 Dylan covers, is a promising sneak peek. The artist line-up ranges from music veterans such as Willie Nelson, Ramblin' Jack Elliot and Eddie Vedder to newcomers like Wilco's Jeff Tweedy, Sufjan Stevens and the Hold Steady. (0) comments
