Football: Huskies To Play In Meineke Car Care Bowl Dec. 29

After waiting over for over a month, for the first time since 2004, the football team will be playing in a bowl game. The Huskies announced Tuesday that they will be heading to the Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte N.C., on Dec. 29 at 1 p.m. In front of a packed room at the Burton Family Football Complex filled with players, coaches and members of the media, UConn Athletic Director Jeff Hathaway and head coach Randy Edsall stood over the conference phone with excited grins and accepted the team's bid from William Webb, executive director of the bowl. After the men's soccer team defeated Notre Dame Nov. 18 to capture the Big East Championship, head coach Ray Reid stopped short of comparing this team to the great Huskies teams he has coached in the past, saying that this group of Huskies has a chance to "create their own legacy. (0) comments

Six games into the season, Duke looks like Duke again. While that might not mean much right now, considering how early it is, the 6-0 Blue Devils are starting to feel like a classic Mike Krzyzewski team that can beat you a number of different ways. After three straight wins to clinch the Maui Invitational last week, Duke proved that rebounding from last year might not be as hard as once thought. (2) comments

Despite losing by a final score of 66-21 to No. 2 West Virginia Saturday, the UConn football team had a chance to win, or at the very least, keep the score respectable. Poor play-calling and decision-making in the first half crushed the Huskies in crucial situations. (3) comments
