The new UConn Adventure Center offers more than just camping equipment and mountain bikes. The cold little storefront across from the Information Desk at the Student Union is an enabler for adrenaline junkies across campus. The center allows students to rent equipment for camping, snowshoeing, mountain biking and rock and ice climbing as well as less-intense activities such as in-line skating, Frisbee golf, bocce and horseshoes. The Student Activism Conference, sponsored by Idealists United, UConn's Community Outreach Center and the UConn Free Press, is set to take place Saturday at 10 a.m, in the Dodd Center. According to Ashley Widfeldt, president of Idealists United, the purpose of the event is to "train students in the types of skills that will allow them to overcome barriers to progress. (0) comments
The Student Fee Advisory Committee will continue to hear department requests for budget increases on Tuesday. Depending on what the Committee decides, the meetings could lead to an increased student fee. The committee is charged with listening to presentations from more than 30 organizations affecting student fees at Storrs and the regional campuses. (0) comments
