UConn President Michael J. Hogan met with around 50 honors students in the lounge near their living cluster in Alumni Tuesday night to talk about civic engagement and access to higher education. Hogan spoke for two and a half hours to students living on the fifth and sixth floors of Brock Hall, answering a variety of questions. (0) comments

Extra Advising Helps Graduation Rates

UConn's graduation rate and freshmen retention rate have soared over the past decade, a statistic the university credits to its improved advising programs. "The research shows that students who receive good advising tend to be more successful, and more graduate on time," according to Dolan Evanovich, vice provost of enrollment management. (0) comments

A pair of UConn study groups has released a survey to help address campus software needs. The UConn Student Software Licensing Group, along with the Student Technology Advisory Group, issued the survey to collect data on software use and licensing options. (0) comments

Students interested in learning how to make their lives a little bit "greener" are invited to bring their lunches to the Student Union tomorrow to meet with members of the Office of Environmental Policy (OEP) and discuss environmental conservation. The event, "Green Bag Lunch: The Truth Behind Environmental Issues," is sponsored by the OEP and will inform students and faculty of various small steps they can take every day to help the environment, according to Heather Heenehan, a 6th-semester environmental science major and the event's main coordinator. Members of the UConn Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), EcoHusky, Office of Environmental Policy (OEP) and ConnPIRG are collaborating to try to bring a community bike program to campus. The informal group met in Castleman Tuesday night at 8 p.m. (0) comments
