Safety Grant To Help Lower DUIs

The UConn Police Department has received a $51,000 federal highway safety program grant to help combat drunk driving on and around campus. The grant, which was obtained through the Connecticut Department of Transportation, is part of a 2008 Comprehensive DUI Enforcement Program and will be used to fund specific police patrols targeting drunk drivers from now until Sept. Eco-Madness Challenges Students Again

Eco-Madness, an environmental awareness event sponsored by EcoHusky and the Office of Environmental Policy (OEP), is challenging UConn residents to reduce water and energy waste over the next several weeks. The contest, which began last Friday and will last until April 18, involves the residents of South, Husky Village, Charter Oak Apartments and Hilltop Apartments, according to Jessica LaRocca, an intern at the OEP and the event's organizer.
