After the initial excitement of returning to campus wears off, students begin to seek refuge and escape from their classes. One form of escapism comes when playing video games. Couple the end of the fall semester with the onset of the holidays and game companies stand to gain much from the subsequent mounting anticipation, causing key franchises and blockbuster titles to be released between October and December. "College" wants to be "Superbad" so bad - and it's not There weren't exactly high hopes for "College," and most of the audience was not surprised when they left wishing they hadn't just sat through it. "College," featuring many young unrecognizable actors, and Drake Bell (Nickelodeon's "Drake and Josh"), was a near two-hour effort to fit in as much booze, boobs and butts as possible, and it got old fast. Think about a one-console future. Over-quoted development studio heads Dennis Dyack and David Jaffe's have done it. Zealous industry types are probably plotting the possibility right now. What if one of the big three game companies were able to achieve this seemingly impossible feat? Theoretically, anything is possible for the future of home gaming consoles, but if history tends to repeat itself, here's a pessimistic outlook on what the next iteration of video gaming can bring us based on the short history of the ones that are available now. SUBOG's only "Drive-In Movie" of the semester was a bit of a failure Sunday night when many frustrated attendees left early for numerous reasons. It would have been a chilly but lovely evening to snuggle up and watch 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' on Dow Field, but technical difficulties ended up causing almost the entire audience to stampede toward the Student Union and find other plans.
