Mansfield's Festival on the Green celebrated its fifth year on Sunday. The cloudy morning made some fearful that the festival might have to be moved indoors, but the rain subsided, allowing the festivities to carry on outside. The UConn Marching Band started things off, leading the parade playing the "UConn Fight Song" and concluded the parade with "America the Beautiful," "The Star Spangled Banner" and the fitting, "Singing in the Rain. Last week's run of events, movies, lectures and exhibits to promote Suicide Prevention Week came to close Saturday evening at St. Mark's Chapel. A cappella group "Take Note!" took the stage at the chapel to support the "Students First Fund." The fund is a UConn organization that raises money to help students who have faced serious life challenges and are dealing with emotional, physical or financial hardships. (0) comments

The ability to run a nation is inadvertently combined with celebrity status and public appeal. Delta Chi held their first annual chocolate pudding tug-of-war on Dow Field Friday afternoon, sponsored by Vitamin Water. The fraternity raised close to $2000 for The V Foundation - a non-profit organization that donates money to cancer research. The sticky event rallied support from many students, both greek and non-greek, and President Hogan gave the tug-of-war countdown on multiple occasions, according to Michael Zlotnick, a 5th-semester economics major and Delta Chi philanthropy chair.
