The field hockey team continued its dominance over in-state foe Quinnipiac last night, dishing out a 6-1 thrashing to the Bobcats at the Sherman Complex. Since Quinnipiac (2-7) became a Division I program in 1998, UConn has won all nine meetings with the Hamden-based university, winning the last five by a combined 26-2 margin. (0) comments

Lewis, of course, is the former New York Jets linebacker who knocked out Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe in the second game of the 2001 season, clearing the way for a sixth-round pick out of Michigan named Tom Brady. Gonzalez scores two goals in Huskies' win

With UConn leading Quinnipiac 4-1 at the half, the Huskies offense seemed to be letting off the gas. Melissa Gonzalez on the other hand, was just getting started. Just before the clock ticked down to 25 minutes remaining in the game Gonzalez struck for her first of two goals in the contest, reviving a UConn offense that hadn't put a tally on the board since Lindsey Leck's goal with 9:38 to go in the first half. CC Sabathia should win the N.L. Cy Young because he made the biggest impact out of any player in baseball down the stretch. If the Cy Young Award represents the most valuable pitcher then Sabathia deserves it. The Brewers acquired him specifically for the purpose of helping them make their first playoffs since 1982, and he accomplished Milwaukee's goal. (1) comment

There are several young players who are taking the league by storm and becoming integral parts of their teams game plans. There are three exceptional rookies who have stood out above the rest in 2008. Eddie Royal, WR, Denver Broncos, from Virginia Tech (Round 2, Pick 11) - Royal had an outstanding career with the Hokies but many questioned if he would be successful in the pros because of his size and build.
