Clothesline Project sends  an important message

Every day four women die in this country from domestic violence, according to the National Organization for Women. The Clothesline Project was designed to get the message out there and curb the problem. The T-shirts hanging in front of the Student Union on Fairfield Way are part of a powerful message about violence against women. (0) comments

Tomorrow marks the 20th anniversary of National Coming Out Day. Established in 1988 by Robert Eichberg and Jean O'Leary, National Coming Out Day is a day of celebration and liberation within the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) community. It stands as a hallmark of the gay rights movement by increasing the visibility of the queer community, most notably by advocating the acceptance of sexual orientation and gender identity. Millions of Americans are facing foreclosures and losing their jobs in the midst of an economic crisis. And as if that wasn't enough terrible news, some people are going to extremes in the face of this crisis. On Monday, Los Angeles police found Karthik Rajaram dead in his home after he shot his wife, three sons, mother-in-law and himself, The New York Times reported. (3) comments
