The women's ice hockey team came away with a win and a tie this weekend. Friday night, UConn beat Colgate, 4-1, and Saturday they tied No. 7 St. Lawrence, 4-4. For UConn, the weekend really started during the third period of the Colgate game, with the score tied at 1-1. (0) comments

Freshman Garcia states her case in crowded goalie field

Pucks were flying in the Freitas Ice Forum this weekend, but when all was said and done only five found their way past UConn's freshman goalkeeper Alexandra Garcia, who picked up a win and a tie in her collegiate debut. The Huskies' goaltending situation has been far from concrete this season, with all three goalies on the roster each getting a start. (0) comments

Volleyball avoids 'Scarlet' fever, sweeps Rutgers

The UConn volleyball team recorded its 13th win of the season Sunday afternoon against Big East cellar-dweller Rutgers. With the win, the Huskies remain only one game back in the loss column of the conference leaders with nine games to play. UConn (13-6, 3-2) was strong out of the gate and was not challenged in the first set. (0) comments

UConn football didn't win a program-changing game this weekend. In fact, the Huskies didn't play a game this weekend, but there was still plenty of reason for Randy Edsall to smile. Former UConn quarterback Dan Orlovsky - the Shelton native who was instrumental in the Huskies' quick transition from an unknown Division I-AA team to a competitive Big East program - made his first career NFL start on Sunday. UConn traveled to historic Franklin Park in Boston for the New England Championships. They finished a disappointing 25th in the 45-team field. "We did not run as well as we wanted," said assistant coach Clive Terrelonge. Terrelonge expected the Huskies to finish in the top 10. (0) comments

Game of the Week: Women's Soccer 0, No. 15 West Virginia 0 - In front of a national audience on ESPNU (sort of), the Huskies kept a potent Mountaineers offense out of the goal to pull out a scoreless tie. After beating Pittsburgh 2-1 Friday, UConn is unbeaten in back-to-back games for only the second time all year. (0) comments

Game of the Week: ALCS Game 2, Tampa Bay Rays 9, Boston Red Sox 8 (11 innings, Saturday) - Calling it a wild game just wouldn't do Game 2 justice. It was so much more than that. The two teams used a combined 14 pitchers in the game, which featured six lead changes. (0) comments
