McHardy lobbies for aid in Hartford

Student body president Ryan McHardy warned last night at a USG Senate meeting of tuition fees in upcoming years increasing at a rate of "9 to 11 percent, or even higher." UConn custodian arrested for sexual assault

Connected to three separate incidents since February, police say

A UConn employee has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a co-worker over a seven-month period. Rene Candelaria, 50, of Willimantic, turned himself into UConn police headquarters yesterday after learning of a warrant for his arrest. He was charged with two counts of fourth degree sexual assault, three counts of second degree unlawful restraint, three counts of disorderly conduct and one count of public indecency, according to a police report. A swimsuit calendar featuring students from colleges across the country, including a UConn sophomore, is on sale now to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The calendar was put out by Campus Girls USA, a new swimsuit calendar company. All profits will benefit the foundation. (4) comments

The Peace Corps is a post-graduation opportunity that many UConn graduates are taking part in. Since the Peace Corps began in March of 1961, 263 UConn graduates have volunteered. Fourteen graduates served overseas last year alone, according to Molly Jennings Levine, a Peace Corps public affairs specialist. (0) comments
