Budget cuts hurt club sports

Women's rugby searching for new ways to fund team

Shards of glass, sharp rocks and odd smells - what sound like the makings for a horrific science experiment are the conditions the UConn women's rugby team faces each time they take the field at Depot Campus after university-wide budget cuts. UConn's Club Sports Council, following the trend of many other organizations on campus, has had its budget substantially cut, passing the effects on to the many teams it oversees. (2) comments

Of all the ridiculous controversies I've ever seen, this past week's little tiff between Randy Edsall and the various Connecticut media outlets ranks high up. For those of you who don't spend a portion of your day reading about UConn football from the 10 or so newspapers that cover it, let me recap: At last Thursday's media session, the UConn coach said that the decision as to who would start at quarterback in Saturday's game against Syracuse would come down to "Cody [Endres] and Zach [Frazer], Zach and Cody, however you want to put it. Reyes making the switch, getting the start

Redshirt freshmen Kendall Reyes and Twyon Martin are in and veterans Rob Lunn and Alex Polito are out. Prior to last week, Lunn, a senior, and Polito, a redshirt sophomore, manned the starting defensive tackle positions, but that changed prior to UConn's 39-14 win over Syracuse Saturday when coach Randy Edsall inserted the two youngsters - who were roommates last season - into the starting line-up.
