UConn student takes leave of absence to pursue chance of a lifetime

Taking a year off from college, while infrequent, isn't the most uncommon thing for a student to do - unless it's to take a solo motorcycle trip to the bottom of the world. Jeff Roy, an accounting major at UConn, decided to do just that - and he's letting the rest of the world follow him along on his journey via his blog. (0) comments

Beginning in the fall of 2009, the Honors first year residential community will move from its current location in Shippee to Buckley Residential Halls, according to Honors Program Director Lynne Goodstein. The change in locations is due to the expected increase of UConn honors students in the upcoming years. (0) comments

Extended debate bogs down final USG meeting of  semester

At the last USG meeting of the fall, all non-pressing business was postponed until spring following USG President Ryan McHardy's suggestion that the group "stop circle-jerking and get some stuff done" after 50 minutes of debate on an act proposing justices be appointed by the president rather than elected, and with consideration for the need to study for finals next week. CORE meeting focuses on saving money

President Hogan's new cost-saving task force held an open forum town meeting Wednesday to discuss ways to save university money. Faculty and staff members voiced concerns and opinions on how to save the university money and reduce wasteful spending. As a result of the recent economic crisis, Hogan announced the formation of a Cost Operations & Revenue Efficiencies Task Force (CORE) Nov. (0) comments
