Second annual Lunafest, soon to be a tradition

The second annual Lunafest film festival will benefit Breast Cancer Fund and UConn's Violence Against Women Prevention Program (VAWPP). The event kicks off at the Dodd Center tonight at 6. This film festival is both a national event and a traveling charity opportunity, funded and put together by Luna. (0) comments

It only took a year for Miss Florida Teen USA, Kayla Collier, to get skin cancer from the harsh light of a tanning bed. Collier began tanning when she was 15 to prepare for pageants. After a year of lying under the ultra-violet rays, Collier's mother found a mark on her daughter's back that turned out to be skin cancer. (5) comments

As I near the end of my fourth semester at UConn, I have been screwed over by the Office of Financial Aid Services and the Office of the Bursar about five times. That is obviously a displeasing ratio, but the best part is that none of it was my directly my fault. (1) comment

Tuva performers light up von der Mehden

For UConn students Tuesday night, the talents of Tuva and the art of throat-singing, or xöömei, were on display and in full force, straight from the heart of the Siberian plain to Storrs for one night only.      The stage at von der Mehden Recital Hall was stripped down to bare wood, with no elaborate set pieces or fancy lighting designs to distract the audience's attention. Everyone on ESPN keeps saying Ford Field will be a 'sea of green' because of all the Michigan State fans. Unfortunately, the same can't be said of their wallets. Props to the guy who got a DUI while driving a motorized bar stool. I keep getting e-mails for the Special Olympics. (0) comments

You can feel it in the air. The rain is not as cold anymore, the air is crisper, and you can see that one leaf on the tree outside your dorm room. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, spring is in the air. Spring marks the beginning of the best time of the year for movies. (1) comment

Lately, Hollywood has been trigger happy in producing sequels to blockbuster hits. Sometimes they can be good ("The Dark Knight") or sometimes they can be mind-bogglingly terrible ("Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest"). For now, let's enjoy and reminisce on some (not all) of the greatest sequels ever produced. (0) comments

Though dirty talk is a known way to heat things up, the right way to do it is not always as clear.
